Ron Paul: The True Republican Wins Debate

The President of the United States must uphold the U.S. Constitution. However, we continue to see how far the Republican party has shifted away from historical "And to the Republic for which it stands" principles.

The moral conservative shift over the past decade has pushed Republican candidates to embrace religion despite the separation of church and state. The religious embrace during the debate was most pronounced during responses regarding the greatest moral challenge for our nation.

Only one candidate, Ron Paul, stood up and stated the greatest moral challenge was a preemptive strike against a nation that did not threaten us. Other candidates provided old and tiresome platitudes (e.g., family values). As soon as citizens supported an attack against another nation, we shifted our moral values.

While Mitt Romney suggests Republicans must move from talking about pro-life in the wound toward discussions about the elderly, he missed the obvious connection that the present pro-life movement does not respect the life of foreigners. Heck, the Republicans do not seem to respect the life of soldiers - continuing to insist soldiers must remain in harm's way.

Did any other candidate besides Ron Paul demonstrate leadership? No. They followed and sadly the media outlets all followed, too.
