Bush and Missiles
What would the U.S. government do if officials from Nebraska announced they were inviting Russia to place a 'missile defense system' in their state? Is this too far fetched? How about Mexico or Canada stating they were working with Iran to add a strategic defense system? Maybe Peru?
Does any of this bother you? Consider, then, Russian government officials who are trying to grasp the audacity of President Bush's announcement that the U.S. will put a missile defense system into Europe. Are they going to accept the statement that we come in peace? Whether you wish our government to return to isolationist models or further our empire building efforts, you might consider pausing and thinking about the ramifications of placing interceptor missiles in Poland as well as radar installations. Is this really in the best interest of the citizens of the U.S.? |
