McCain and Romney Dance Over Immigration

McCain and Romney are the leading republican candidates, but they are both struggling in defining their thoughts on issues. McCain appears to be out of step with his 2000 straight talk and too busy accepting The Twig ideals. Romney, on the other hand, has to capture attention. Spitting about the latest amnesty bill is a great way for both to show spirit.

McCain calls the legislation an imperfect compromise. He continues that the bill does something rather than nothing. He also suggests the bill increases border security.

On the opposite side of the immigration issue, Romney states he opposes the bill on principle.

"In reforming our immigration system, we must do so in a way that rewards immigrants who obey the laws and guards against providing special incentives for those who show no regard for them," he said.

Neither candidate appears to have a handle on the issue. They have been bought off by special interest groups. Amnesty was granted in the 80s and more people arrived - not less. Also, we continue to struggle with whether there is an assimilation of American ideas or establishments of little Mexico within poverty stricken areas.

[BREAK=The Democrats Challenge]
The Democrats also struggle with the immigration issue. For example, is English an official language? Apparently Obama does not think this is necessary. His premise is that people will learn English on their own. Apparently he has not been to my city - where signs in Spanish are increasing. Even the peso is accepted by some businesses.

In terms of housing, there is another crisis. Consider middle class citizens who must live 40-60 miles away from their work because areas of Los Angeles are not available for families. As more immigrants move into the area, congestion follows.

There are strains on numerous city facilities, too.

Consider the push on health care and the lack of insurance. Finally, public education is pushed to the limits. Some schools are so overcrowded that there are not enough books, desks, and chairs for students. Meanwhile, tax paying citizens are given the shaft.
