Elephant Fighting in Texas

Leave it to Texas to do things big. Saturday was an exciting time for Republican House Speaker Tom Craddick. He aborted an attack of "the insurgents" by physically blocking them from reaching his podium. The rebellion only lasted five hours but the chaos was one for the future Barnes and Noble cheap books rack. Imagine being an onlooker and watching grownups acting insane. Republican Rep. Todd Smith of Bedford suggested Craddick's political movements were an abuse of power. Regardless, the elephant survived.Democrats and Republicans agree that Craddick rules the House with an iron hammer. The most powerful man in Texas has a win-at-all-costs style often forcing legislators to vote against the best interests of their own districts.
We wonder why Craddick was re-elected in the first place. After all, this is his third term. He didn't just appear one day and become House Speaker. Someone voted for him.
