On November 4, 2008, the United States of America will hold its 55th consecutive quadrennial election for President and Vice President of the United States. The President serves as the commander-in-chief of the armed forces, head of state and head of government. The Vice President serves as the President's deputy and as President of the Senate. Elections for all 435 members of the U.S. House of Representatives and 33 members of the United States Senate will also occur on November 4.
